Not to bad for one of the lesser priced Fender Basses. They're lower in price than the MIM Standards.

That's true, it is cheaper than a Standard P Bass.

I played it for just over an hour and a half this morning, and it's incredible. I forget I'm playing a low end Fender. The MIM Fender I have does kick! 8)

Well, that's good to know they're putting out decent stuff.

Absolutely, some fine craftsmanship I've seen.

The Nylons do play well on the Mustang PJ. A really great thump, and the Hartke KB15 is moving the air well also.

I'll bet, especially with that 15" speaker. 8) I can't wait to hear that hollowbody through my 18" Celestion. That's some old school 1965 vibe there, with the exception of a 1000 watt head. They didn't have those back then. :P

I know what you're saying. The Hartke is working great with the 15' HyDrive. I'll bet that 18" Celestion, with the Orange will take it to a higher level. The closest 1,000 watt amp back in 1968/1969 was the Coral Kilowatt. The earlier SS entries. Acoustic kinda' blew other amps out of the water. 18" 360/361 Acoustics that is. One of the finest Amps for touring large outdoor arenas, etc.

I know John Paul Jones had a pair of those Acoustic amps. I'll bet he didn't have to move them himself, too. One of the perks of being a rock star. :P I'll bet they shook the stage, though.

What was the deal with those Coral amps? Were they popular much back in the day?

No,.... the Coral amps died a non existent death. The Coral whats?
The Acoustics were everything but fun to move, but they were the BLAST of live rock in that time.

That's too bad. It looked rather interesting. I know the Silvertone amps managed to more or less hang in there and still being used today. There's this one 60 watter, with 2 12"s that could be used for either guitar or bass, that would make a killer house/studio amp, since I do both. I wouldn't gig with it, even though I could, but that would be fun thing to mess with otherwise.

I had a Silverstone that was I think the same one you were describing. The Silvertones were made by Vox I think. They were popular for early PA's back then. Then came the Kustom PA's, and the Shure PA's. Fender Bassman amps were used as PA's too.

I suppose people used whatever they could, or was available at the time. I've used a little Peavey 15 watt guitar combo for a vocal amp (I didn't sing, but my friend did) because we didn't have any sort of PA for practice. We just positioned it on top of a refrigerator that was in the garage apartment room we rehearsed at in the back of his house at the time. It more or less worked to where you could hear the vocals, at least.
