Let us know what you think about it when you get it. Of course, the nylon string change is a must. I'm assuming they make them for short scale, don't they?

Will do, on the playability. The one I tried today was good. I'm going to see how a set of ETB92 Medium Scale Nylons will fit first. If they don't fit, Yes on the ETB92 Short Scales. The Medium Scale fit great on the Pawn Shop Mustangs, so I'm going to see if the PJ is about the same. The Pawn Shop's were strung through the body, and the PJ's are a top string through. The Mediums also worked great on the 2015 Gibson SG Std., at 30.5" scale. the PJ's are rated at 30.".

I tried the ETB92M on the newly acquired Mustang PJ, no go. It's definitely a ETB92S Nylon Short strings set. I have a set coming from GC.com for the Mustang PJ.

Did you have the mediums already from having those other basses? I know you can't return strings, so that would suck to have to buy two sets to try and put them on there.

I had a set of mediums I was going to use on a Gibson SG Std. The shorts are the size for this PJ, where the mediums would fit on the Pawn Shop Mustang, because of the stringing through the body on it. The PJ is a top load.

Yeah, that does have a tendency to add to the length of the strings. That reminds me, I should contact Rotosound and inquire about what size of strings I should get when I get that violin bass, probably around Christmas or so. I could send them the link to the bass so they could see the specs on it.

What is the scale length on it? The mediums also fit on the SG Std., because of the larger Babicz Bridge pulled the strings down lower. That way the silks cleared the nut on the SG Std. The shorts weren't long enough to get the silks past the nut. What did he just say?

The scale is 30 1/3" according to the specs. It has that Hofner style bridge. Actually, the bass looks just like the Epiphone Viola bass with the exception of the head stock. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made in the same factory.

I hope it has the standard bass tuning pegs for the string ends to go through. The Hofner was a pain, only taking regular guitar size string ends, instead of the regular bass ends. 30 1/3" sounds to me like a short scale, but the location of the bridge may alter that.

I know that the Labella flats for Hofner basses will fit, since the company that sells the bass has them listed as accessories for sale with the instrument and say they'll fit. Also, in a review, someone mentioned those strings fit their Epiphone Viola bass, which is the same as the bass I'm getting. Of course, that would mean me switching my string brand for that bass. I could just get those, or I could just inquire to Rotosound about which strings will fit.

Strings can really be royal pain. I'm glad I'm using a standard string end on my stuff.

I have a set of ETB92S Nylons here, for when I get another Mustang PJ. Image

Those short scale, or you have to use medium scale ones?

Definitely Short Scale I have for the Mustang PJ, when I get one. Medium Scale work on the Mustang Pawn Shop, those are sitting around.

Yeah, that one had the string through the body bridge, didn't it? Those were cool looking basses. It's too bad that they discontinued all of that. From what I've noticed, they've dropped a lot of bass stuff for both Fender and Squier. It's been looking like slim pickings, lately. They certainly had more within the past few years, at least with alternative models to the usual standard P or J bass.
