I recently bought a squire jaguar. I really like the short scale.

Does Fender make an American short scale? Japanese?

Thank you,
Jay

No Made in USA Fender short scales, but rather made in Ensenada, Mexico. Fender Rascal and Mustang.

Fender Japan is now defunct. F.M.I.C. did not renew their contracts, and whatever Japanese Fenders still remain on the world market that is it.

Today's Squiers are made at the Cort factory in Indonesia. Fender also has an amp factory in Indonesia manufacturing Rumble Bass Amps, and Champion guitar amps.

You're more than welcome, JayR! There is very little going on here that's new, but for historic information this place is tops.

It is true that the branding arrangement for Japanese distribution and limited export of Japanese made Fender branded instruments between Kanda Shokai (primarily a Japanese instrument retailer), Yamano Gakki (primarily a Japanese instrument distributor/exporter) and FMIC (the USA based parent corporation that owns Fender and associated brands) known as Fender Japan that began in 1982 ended officially on March 31, 2015. It is not true that Fender instruments are no longer being made in Japan. April 1, 2015 Fender's parent corporation, FMIC, began contracting production and managing distribution for Japanese made Fender instruments which are currently being marketed as the "Fender Japan Exclusive" series in Japan. So Fender Japan as we knew it ceased to exist but Fender instruments Made in Japan did not. FMIC can probably make more money managing the brand for domestic distribution in Japan and for export on their own. When we begin seeing Japanese made Fenders returning to the USA market and which models those will be remains to be seen.

Hey Linnin. I believe Fender discontinued the short scale Fender Mustang last summer. I was going to buy one, but I discovered that they are gone from the distribution channel. Still like to get one, so I wonder -- does anyone know if Fender have any plans to bring the short scale Mustang bass back from a different Japanese manufacturer, or another manufacturing country altogether?

I'd like to see Fender bring out a short scale Mustang bass with both the Hummbucking and P-Bass pickup options in American Standard and American Deluxe models.
