Hi,

I just bought a short scale jaguar squire. I thought it would be nice to use as a practice instrument. Something to take traveling, or leave hanging around the house. I find I practice more if I can pick it up and play for 10 15 minutes at a time.

Anyway, I have to say I really like it... Yeah, it's not the same as my American Fender Jazz, and I know it's a squire etc, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy it.

OK, so here's the question. The high G string has a weird harmonic thing going on. I checked the neck, the string height and I could be wrong but I think it is not frett buzz. When I pluck the string it sounds normal, then I've got this metal tingy sound that devleops and get LOUDER. I know I sound like I'm smokin something (even though I'm in Colorado). I'm no luthier, but I watch a few youtube videos to check the basics and I don't see it banging buzzing against the frett, but I could be wrong. It's not happening on the other strings.

Any ideas?

More than likely the string became twisted when it was installed. Take it off and re-install. If that doesn't work, put on a new stringset.

Tech should be able to find it in 5 mins or less. If a new string does not cure it there are other things to check. 1. Improperly slotted or seated nut. 2. Hardware issue, particularly within the tuning machine, machine screws, string tree screw or the bridge or bridge screws. 3. Improperly crowned, leveled or seated frets.
