That's a hell of a deal for $750, plus a case for it, though. You probably won't see that again, unless you're lucky, I suppose.

Once again Paul, you're right on about that.

That would be interesting to try out these new ones, though. Unfortunately, I really don't get out to actual music stores these days, though. If you happen to come across these, you think you could try them out and see how they are? You've got way more experience on playing Gibson basses than I do, that's for sure.

I'd like to see one, and check one out. Myself, and other former Gibson bass players would love to see the new management, take a serious responsibility for their basses. It's a shame that Epi is their company bass. My family had somewhat of a Gibson tradition in our house.

You know, it seems like they are trying out some new things, so maybe they can get their crap together. Ampeg has been doing that, as well, since Yamaha bought them.

For Gibson, anything that shows that there is a conscious works in motion to get basses back to an acceptable place in the Gibson USA Series, is more than has been the direction for some years now. The good Lord knows Gibson has enough LP's available. There is nothing wrong with the Epi basses, but they shouldn't be the namesake for Gibson Basses. There are some players that like the bit of higher refinements of the Gibson, over the Epi. MIA is one thing.

That's true, since Gibson has had some well known basses over the years, even though it seems they fixate on Les Pauls, more than anything. Maybe, with these new models, if you want to call them that, since that DC style was the second bass they ever put out, after the violin shaped EB-1 model, there might be some more effort going into this. They certainly don't need anymore Les Paul models, that's for sure. What is it now, like 30, or something? :P

On the count of the LP's models, I lost count at one.

Yeah, they're kind of gone overboard with that one. :P

Yeah, going around $4000, for a Custom, I think. Then again, try getting an Alembic bass. Those aren't cheap, either. You know, if I were to spend that much on a guitar, I'd probably just get something completely custom made by an independent luthier, and get whatever I want. In fact, you can even get that cheaper than that, or even more so, depending on who and what it is. You could get something completely unique that way.

Yeah, that's not talking about doing the dollar menu and McDonald's, and a Squier budget there. :P

Yeah,..... not even close by a long shot. If I have an upper priced amp, or bass, in 99.9% of the time it's because I sold off an item, or two, or............... three.

Yeah, I know what you mean, except the stuff I have isn't worth a lot to begin with, so that limits me on what I can wheel and deal with.
