I'm upgrading an '08 Road Worn jazz and after installing Custom Shop pickups I've decided to put the ground strip on. I know it connects bridge to bridge pickup, and I realize it's just cosmetic but if you guys could tell be the best way to install it I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Ed

As I recollect, the ground strap is soldered to the bridge pickup's brass shielding plate then is folded up and over the top of the body to be sandwiched between the bridge plate and the body. Back in the day, this strap would be totally concealed if the bridge cover "ashtray" remained installed.

Not cosmetic at all if it is installed correctly. The fact that you are asking this question means you don't have a clue. So take your bass to a competent technician or luthier. Don't muck things up on your own.

It is a strip of brass that runs from under the bridge to the brass grounding plate under the bridge pickup. It is soldered to the bridge pickup ground plate and it is just a pressure contact with the bridge. Vintage reissue Jazz Basses have a nice wide ground strip around 1/8 of an inch wide.

It doesn't provide any sonic advantage over a ground wire that is hidden.
But- Whatever floats your boat!
