I have 1972 Jazz Bass neck in modified 1974 Ibanez Jazz Bass body. It's not very playable now, and I'd like to change the body to original Fender Jazz Bass. There are plenty of Jazz Bass bodies in eBay, but I wonder, which bodies fits to my neck. Has it be 1972 or does the newer ones fit too?
Can anyone help me?

IMO yes, new body will fit .

Most important is to find a real Fender made body .

Is it a Japanese,Mexican,or American made neck?
That has an impact on proper fitment. I recently installed a Japanese made 75 re-issue on my Mexican Jazz and the neck does not fit all the way into the pocket where the butt of the neck would meet the body. A simple re drilling of the holes can fix this, but keep in mind that the pocket may need to be enlarged a little as well. Fortunately, in my case,at least, my tech was able to get the neck in-toned by a simple saddle adjustment. There is a small gap at the butt to body join, but it does not affect playability at all. And if people ask me about it I'll tell them it's my "Funk Gap"!
The reason sometimes necks wont fit some bodies not made in the same country/factory is that they each have their own route templates that are not exactly the same. My tech has been dealing with Fender for over 35 years and he has come across a ton of neck to body fitment issues due to this. It's not a big deal as usually a little moding and patience will do the trick. But if you want to avoid any hiccups, get yourself a compatible (same "Made in") body to go with your neck.
A great source for Fender bodies and necks of all makes and years is at STRATosphere Parts. Matt has a great assortment of bodies (some fully loaded) and he is exceedingly knowledgable.
