The 60's bridge on a Jazz Bass has in my opinion one serious flaw when using modern strings or alternatively modern string makers completely overlooked the 60's bridge introducing a flaw. Most string brands winds quite far (about 20cm) at the ball end and I end up having these winds over the sadlle rather than the string going over the saddle. As saddles frets and nuts have quite large influence on sound, this is just not right. I guess modern string makers completely overlooked the 60's bridge when calculating the necessary anchor wind length.
As modern string makers wont change, I have to change the bridge to accommodate them.
Is there any known replacement 60's bridge that extends the Ball end of the string a bit further away from the sadlles?
Otherwise I can cut 1cm ferrules and insert them between the ball and the end of the bridge in order to get the wind off the saddles, but that will look slightly peculiar I guess.

Any advice is appreciated.

String up your bass and stop worrying about where the string wraps end and the bridge saddles.

Bass strings always end up doing this on new and old Fender basses. It doesn't make that much difference.

I have been playing a long time and a new set of strings will sound fine with the string wrap terminating on the saddles and your old 60's bridge will sound better and be easier to adjust than most of the replacement bridges offered today.
Just my 2 cents.
