Whenever I use a little force when I pluck my strings the pickups will "pop" making a distorted sound. This usually occurs when I hit the low E string open either while slapping or plucking with force. This also occurs when I solo on the G string and pluck with force on the octive or near it. I have checked my speakers cones I am pretty sure they are not blown and I am not clipping my amp head. Is there a reissue upgrade for these pickups? I love the tone it has and would like to keep it. Please help.

Are you sure that the strings doesn't contact with the pickup’s poles occasionally by accident. I use to rest my thumb in the E string and sometimes it happened, it had take some time for me to discover that stupid reason.

I am 99% sure that the strings are not hitting the p'ups. I thought that at first. It was hard to see if this happened when the E string was hit open but I know for sure that My G string does not hit the p'ups when it distorts. I have also tried lowering the p'ups but this only helped a little bit.

I replaced my stock Fender pickups , with Seymour Duncan Antiquity ones. Now it really sounds like a 62 jazz with lots of tone, and with none of that popping and that too much treble. Since I changed out the pickups, I've had so many complements on my tone. Give the Duncans a try, I think you'll be a lot happier.
