On my '60 jazz bass, with the bass pickup off; when I turn the treble pickup tone control counter clockwise to bass, it turns my volume almost off. When I turn the tone control fully on, the volume comes back, but it's not as strong as the bass pickup. Any advise?
Thanks,
Bassickness

Jazz Bazz have only one tone control , a master tone control

No treble pickups tone control .

Check for a short in tone capacitor , one lead of the cap may touch the tone pot body ....

Schematic here ;

Hi, Thanks for the info, but my jazz base has 2 tone controls. My bass has the concentric knobs - 1 tone control for each pickup. It's an original 1960 jazz bass.

You are a lucky bassist, 1960, first year jazz basses are the most valuable Fender basses on the market, dollar wise.

I have had a similar issue with my stacked knob configuration. In my case it was physical, the tone knob was actually turning the volume knob with it - volume would also turn tone. I solved the issue by adjusting the the knobs for more separation. Is this your issue, or is the issue the pot itself?

It certainly sounds like the treble tone knob is turning the volume control knob that is under it. Those concentric controls are more complex than a 3 knob configuration.

You are very fortunate to have a 1960 Jazz bass to play. I have a Vintage reissue 1962 Jazz bass and there is a subtle difference with the two tone controls and the way they affect the tone of that bass.

I'm sure your 1960 sounds great.
Please post some pictures of yours if you can.
