I think strings are highly overrated. It's best just to pose with your instrument on Face ache, I mean Facebook and play nothing at all. Just talk about it instead. Why bother playing it? :P

I know a few people who do that. :)

Yeah, even better than that, pretend they are in a band, yet have no musical skill or equipment at all. Just pose for band pics. I kid you not.

Dave - Have you ever considered playing bass with steel belted "bungee cords"?

I tried them once and the low frequency response was at 0.7 HZ... not to mention that when the gig was over, I used them to secure my bass case to the roof rack on my 1963 Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter.

Ernie Ball now has Slinky flat wounds for bass. I'm a little curious about those. I use Slinky Regulars (10's) for my Tele Custom and like those. I haven't tried the Slinky rounds for bass, though. I still love my Rotosounds for bass, but I'm not adverse to trying new things.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I take it then that the "cobalt" will make you wank off more on the bass, at least from the impression I got from the video. :P I have to say it, I can't stand slap bass. It sounds like someone having a blow out on the loo after a night of cheap beer and a lot of chili. :P Still, these strings might be worth checking out.

Of course, otherwise you'd have to change your name around here. :P I'd actually would like to try those, but they don't seem to make them in light gauge.

Yeah, as far as I know, medium gauge is about it.

Although, that could work on certain basses I have, like the Peavey Zodiac bass. I still have the heavier gauge Rotosound flats on that one and it plays fine. The Squier Jazz was really the one that was problematic with those. I've always had light gauge on the Schecter so I don't know about that one. At the time, I didn't want to take the chance, since it didn't feel right with the Squier, which I had first. Besides, those strings aren't exactly cheap to be buying a bunch of them to swap around.
