Hi, I have a Fender Jazz Bass America Standard. 2004...ish model
The model number is Z4209742, ( Part Number 0193462.706. as written on the set up card)

I am trying to figure out the wood used for the construction of the body,
For the looks of it the neck is maple but that is just about all I can find out.

Would anyone be able to help me with this?

Regards

Alex

Alex- Welcome to the forum.
It would be only a guess for any of us to try to say what wood your bass body is made from. We cannot see through a black finish but I can tell you that the most common types of wood used on Fender basses are alder and ash.

If you take off the neck there should be a bare patch of wood in the neck pocket. Take a close up picture of that and sometimes some tell- tale grain will show through that can indicate the body wood.

Hi Alex, Odds are it is alder. Ash is used on some FSR (Fender Special Run) Jazz Basses and with certain finish treatments. With opaque finishes on a stock American Standard it is almost certainly alder.

HOWEVER to be certain you can email consumerrelations@fender.com with your part number and serial and request all available information on it. You'll likely receive an email response with the full factory specifications of your specific instrument including the city to which is was originally shipped, so you'll know for sure about the body wood that way. You are correct that the neck is maple with a maple fingerboard by the way.
