Well if PV offered me a deal maybe it would be with a bass that I really like with maybe my own touches to it. I'd design a whole new bass for them -- the "SV" if that wood work. Don't think I couldn't do it. Like I said I have a brain block about PV gear but that doesn't mean I hate it- As of now I don't use PV anything- just like I don't use Rickenbaker, Gibson, Ludwig, Selmer, or Char Broil Grilles, Chevy, Schmevlap ........

Hey- I was just asking. I think designing your own bass is cool idea.

I wondered about this because I asked another bass player at a show how he got endorsements? He said he called up the companies and asked for them!
Now he didn't have a Fender endorsement but he had a famous string company and a pickup company and an amp company giving him product.
Pretty cool.

...but I know why. I cannot stand how the control plate meets the pickguard. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. The fact that they are made of different materials, yet attempted to be put together seamlessly, looks very hodge-podgey to me. This is why I don't own a J, but a J Plus is on my GAS list. I think a J without a pickguard and with a control plate shaped like Tele plate would look much cleaner and incredibly smooth. They could call it the Deep Jazz.

Like all things, you are free to have an opinion like the one you have. Equally, people are free to think the opinion is odd.

Like how I find it odd that anyone would use the words "clean" and "smooth" to describe the Tele control plate?

I used to have issues with the appearance of jazz basses too, but this won me over. http://imgur.com/QRH5tus

At first, Precisions looked better. But I got to really like the look of the Jazz as they played better for me.

Personally, I think they sound a little better too.
More definition to the growl.

My opinion, my 2¢.

This is why I am glad we have many choices as each person's tastes are different. I love the look of the Jazz . I am exactly the same but for the P. I don't like the one pickguard the droops down to the controls. Looks like a lot of plastic. Another thing on the P is the large pickguard makes to P pickup and it's two knobs look so "lonely" and small with a lot of real estate around it. The world of music has typically ( especially Motown) used a P bass. I just feel I can get more range of tones with a Jazz (especially with an S-1 Series Parallel Switch) but you have to appreciate the big deep tone with no noise of the P. So with that being said "What ever floats ones boat" is what really matters. :)
