Personally, I do not like it when manufacturers do the reissue thing. To me it seems like nothing more than a gimmick to sell more instruments. The reissues are never quite the same as the original and I would never buy one.

Not everyone wants to spend the money on an original '70s bass nor do most people have the money for the overpriced "original" bass from the era. You might be lucky enough to have purchased one back in the day, or have no other spending to save up for your beloved 70s bass now, most people don't. So when you won't buy one, other people might. Plus @ $799 street with warranty and it's new, most people can afford or save to get it instead of the original '70s bass that would cost $1500 - $2500 USED/as is.

Gotta agree with PJB. Reissues are fine by me. Unless I was wealthy and a collector, and that was my thing. JMO
