I heard back from my rep and he said that Fender recently had to stop offering the deluxe cases completely because they were having great difficulty sourcing some of the parts, so they only manufacture the basic model now… supposedly the deluxe case is no more.

So Fender makes their own cases? I thought they used G and G?

The Deluxe cases are still G&G. I just ordered a Fender Tweed , for a Precision from Sam Ash.

No one has mentioned the neck profile ?!? "custom C shape" says nothing to me. Is it thin, medium (like am. std.) or thick?

Mine feels like an Am. Std. to me. But Fender calls it a custom "C"- shaped profile neck. I like mine, and plays great.

Thanks Mr. Nylon , I love the U-shape jazz necks and medium (Am.Std.) is ok too. But I can't stand those thin jazz necks.

I like Precisions, but the Jazz neck plays best for my comfort zone. Am. Std.'s are my choice on Jazzes.

I can tell the difference in the neck but I like it. It's subtle. I really notice the weight difference compared to my '73. A bit lighter than the '73. I just got it set up at the store I got it from, then redid it myself to get it just the way I like it. I haven't been able to play it much in the past couple weeks, what with all the rain and flooding we're getting out here, but things are even-ing out and I am finally bonding with this honey. :P

Yeah, it sure does. I tried hanging mine on our Christmas tree, and the tree fell over.

Been playing and adjusting and playing and adjusting on this instrument to get the right sound. My wife thinks I'm crazy and that it sounds great, but I've had to go through all this to embrace this instrument. I'm so used to my P bass, and this really is a different animal than the P bass. My Modern Player Jazz is almost nothing like the AC aside from look and shape. But she's right, it does sound great (now). I just had to find the right settings and action.

Yeah,…. I can see where it would feel different after playing Precisions, then getting a Jazz in the mix.
