I sold off a 4003 Ric. Later in the morning I went to a local SA, and they had a Adam Clayton in stock. I played it, gave it a look over, and bought it. It looks, and sounds good.

Damn, that's the way to do it! Nice. Glad to see others like it too. It does play pretty sweetly. It's the nicest bass I own.

I like the AC Jazz a lot more than the 4003 Ric I sold. Very smooth playing bass. AC is performing on pre-Monday Night Football using the Jazz for at least one song.

I have to agree with you on the looks of the AC bass as it comes out of the case. I'm not changing anything on mine, other than the strings. What about your AC, any thoughts of changes to it?

No changes, …at the most maybe some flatwound strings. I'm also a bit of a purist and collector so I will be leaving this little honey 'original'. But if I were to change anything I would likely add a lower tugbar and covers (provided that a cover would even fit over that bridge). I've never used Fender strings before and would like to know more about these. My instrument seems ultra-sensitive to the touch. I pluck the strings on my '73 P bass pretty hard, but with this AC, it seems I need only to touch the string. Perhaps the pickups have alot to do with that? Have you noticed a hightened sensitivity playing yours?

P.S. I love the body color/finish on your P bass!

I played mine for just over two hours today, it was pretty close to, or about the same as my Am. Std. Jazz. My AC, and Am. Std. both have the same Nylon strings, and the factory CS60's pups so, other than the Rosewood board on the AC, and the Maple on the Am. Std., they should play very close. They really did a fantastic job on my AC. I can see how you like your AC as much as you do. I'm not changing anything on mine as you stated for yours also. 8) A great Jazz.

Thanks, the P Bass is the FSR USA Nitro Satin Precision. An (Am. Spl.) with the Honeyburst finish. They are a Fender Special Run, made up for GC. The body is a bit lighter, and has an Am. Std. pup on it. The neck feels really good on it also, and it has a good tone.

Always love the honeyburst!

Interesting observations about the Am Std pups. I don't have any Am Std to compare to. Just my '73 P and a Chinese Jazz. I love my tone on the P but it's still quite different than the AC.

Wait, you said you had nylon strings on your AC?

Nylons on the AC, Am. Std., and the Precision.

So you changed the strings out already? How different is the sound?

I changed the strings out on it within the the first half an hour I had it home. The Nylons give it a deeper, more mellow flat string sound.

I haven't changed my strings out yet. I wanted to experience a little of the original setup before I change anything. Interesting info about the nylon strings. I'll have to look into that more. 8)
