I was reading about that last night and he got it from a Gibson bass. I heard they were pretty loud live, too.

Yes they were. A good sound from the Hiwatt's, even in a torrential downpour.

Hiwatts are pretty killer amps, I think. I wish I could afford one, or 10. :P

They were up there with the Sunn amps. No two ways about it.

Yeah, The Ox used both, so you know they had to be.

Especially seen in the "Live At Pompeii" film. 8) I love that concert. Of course, it winds up making me GAS for a P-Bass every time I watch it. :P

I know myself, either a Standard, or the Roger Waters Precisions would be my choice. Other than the tightening up I needed to do on the Standard Jazz, the Fender MIM's are a damn good choice. The only other MIA I would consider, (here it comes ), the USA GL Jazz. I may get a wild hair, and get another USA GL Jazz if and when they're available again. I know!!! Image

I have to say, that Roger Waters P-Bass is pretty cool. I haven't really had any prominent P-Bass GAS, recently. I guess that's on the back burner. :P

I've been liking my Squier Jazz lately, but it needs to be fixed to be played through an amp. It has some short in it, which I did mention a while back. I have no idea how that happened other than it did fall and hit the bottom of the bass on the floor. That could have screwed something up, from what I remember you telling me. I'll need to see if my drummer can look at that. If I could find out if an actual Fender Jazz sounded and played better, I'd like to upgrade to that, even might consider selling the Schecter to do so.

I'm very biased to a Jazz, so I could see the Schecter being the get out of town bass.

The Schecter is really a good bass, I'm not going to deny that at all. It's been more of a playing preference with me lately. I'm finding myself a lot quicker with the neck because it's not as wide and flat. This could all be because I got use to playing the violin bass, which has a smaller neck on it and my hand adapted to the smaller real estate there. I just find myself having more give with the Squier neck. I can really bend or trill notes on that neck, kind of like Jack Bruce might, but I don't bend the hell out of them like he might have done. It's more of a subtle thing. I mean I can do that on the Schecter, but you have to work at it more.

It does sound like the Jazz profile may be your fit, so to speak. I'm kinda' along the way with Jazzes over most anymore myself. I can play others, just the Jazz is a good player.

I sold the AC today, and got very close to what I bought it for. A USA GL is in the future as soon as one comes in.

What didn't you like about it in comparison?

Mainly the neck, Maple board, and the pups. It's just a really nice Jazz. I do regret selling off the other USA GL Jazz I had.
