Didn't you do some horse trading with that AC bass before, also with another Ric, or was that another type of bass?

He's been with Warwick for many years now. It'd be great if they discontinued the Jazz bass though. It would make it rare.

I noticed Adam was playing his signature bass on the current Joshua Tree tour.

BTW, I finally swapped out the pick guard on my AC. The black has real presence. I didn't think I'd like it as much, but I think it's a keeper.

I think you're right about it being for a Ric, or an Am. Std. Fretless. It's the same friend I did some horse trading with before. And the AC Jazz was one of the basses I swapped out with him. This was another one of his, had it in the case, and never played it. It looks like it did when I handed it over to him.

The Black PG does go well with the Sherwood Green Metallic, and the Inlay Rosewood Fretboard. Good move changing it out. I like the Black PG on mine too.

Thanks. I thought about black pearloid instead, but glad I stuck with the solid black. 1 ply bakelite might have been interesting too, but I couldn't find an official Fender guard like that.

That's funny you mention that about the Fender Black Moto (black pearloid) PG. I have one that I had mounted on this AC Jazz previously. I set in place before mounting the Black PG. The Black Moto looks good, I'm going back to the Black Moto.

Definitely neat looking, but I think I still prefer the solid black. The bakelite one would have provided a cool contrast of shiny finish on body and matte finish guard, and without the white line border of the 3 ply. I did this to my wife's custom shop tele and it looks awsome IMO.

I almost forgot that actually comes with a white pick guard, since I'm use to seeing pics with a black one on it. I'm partial to tortoise shell pick guards, so I'd probably try one of those out on it, if I ever had that bass. The one thing I like about this bass is it has the matching finish on the head stock and the block inlays. It's like those custom shop ones they had in the 60's.

I went back, and forth between the Black, and the Black Moto for the AC. The Black Moto was my winner.

That's a cool looking pick guard. You had that on the GL bass at one time, didn't you?

Yes, it's been on an Am. Std. Fretless, and the Spl. Edition White Opal too.

Yeah, it's been around the block a few times. Where did you get that from in the first place? I remember you've had it for awhile.

I bought it on line directly from Fender, or called the Fender toll free number. I forget, but I think I called in for it. I still like talking to a real person on orders, to be sure I have a better chance of getting the right product ordered.

I wouldn't count on that if you dealt with someone like Carvin. :P I almost had my cab shipped to Georgia and all kinds of cluster you know whats. That's probably why I'll never deal with them again, I think.
