Just took a closer look at the Dee Dee Ramone P bass over on Talkbass. I like the extras that they included as case candy and wish the AC came with more than a mere signature on the headstock. The AC bass is amazing, but I specifically like the special neck plate on the Dee Dee.

Ethos Custom Straps, on Etsy. They're a bit pricey, to be sure, but beautiful and well-made.
I think this one is discontinued now, called "Celtic Clover Guitar Strap". They might still make it as a "custom" order if you ask. I got 3 of their straps last year and am quite satisfied with them all. 8)

I never liked white plastic parts on my guitars.

I was thinking that, too. I even like the more matte black finish of the single-ply bakelite guards.

Btw, congratulations on the return of your ACJB, Ghastly.
I've been gigging with mine a lot lately and I'm really liking the pickups and neck. Mine plays like the proverbial butter. I've been primarily using my Precision for the past 4 years but I'm enjoying using a Jazz again.

I had this Black Pearloid on an Adam Clayton.

It's on an Olympic White Am. Std. Jazz now.

Thanks for the good tidings. I'm really loving this more than I thought I was going to. I have a 50th anniversary Jazz which is nice, but by comparison, the AC wins, hands down. The clincher is the satin finish on the back of the neck of the AC. My hand slides so much smoother, you know? Truly an instant classic from Fender.

Nylon, that black pearloid looks great on the AC! Do you still have your AC or did you trade it again? I am really loving the olympic white finish. I'd love to get a Jazz with olympic white body and maple neck (with pearloid block inlays).

No the AC went in for the USA GL. The neck on the USA GL Jazz is as close to that one, with Pearloid Blocks in it. Black body though. I can't stay away from Olympic White / Maple Jazzes. The neck on the USA GL Jazz really blew me away. It's so slick the way the crown of the back of the neck is flattened a bit. One of these days, I might do another AC. But I wouldn't sell or trade in either one of these for an AC.

Aw too bad. I won't part with mine. Gonna keep it factory, too.

I'm not a big fan of black basses, but yours is a killer. Imagine that Geddy Lee neck and olympic white jazz body… Mmmm.

They do play, and sound great. The AC, and the Am. Std., are very similar in many ways. I think they sound about the same. Playability fells about the same as well, to me anyway. The Am. Std. isn't as fancy though as the AC. The Sherwood Green is cool.

Well I took the plunge and put the Jazz on order. They are supposedly backlogged about 30 days from orders taken at NAMM, according to my dealer. That Ebay auction must have been a sample from the show. {also} And BrotherDave is right on about the price. $1799. I got a bit of a deal through my dealer though.

That's the way to do it! Congratulations! :D

Beautiful bass! Let us know how it does for you
