There seems to be a glut of the AC's at this time. Sweetwater Music has had four in their stock for a while now.

I see them alot now for around $1300, and apparently someone was selling a body on ebay recently that I missed. I spoke to my tech guy and he sent me Fender's most recent response to my order:

"It will happen, it just may take a little extra time. ETA is mid November."

I'm not a big fan of U2 in fact I hate them.

BUT the Adam Clayton Jazz Bass is a looker. Sherwood Green Metallic + matching headstock + white pearloid inlays. 8)

Is that 2 for you now? And by the way, are you 'gsgbass' on Talkbass?

Yep! This one's a second time around for an AC Jazz. That would be me over there. Image

I thought I recognized the AC pics. I just joined up over there a few weeks back. A little faster pace than this place and more variety.

They have a greater variation of basses than just one brand to YAK about.

Yes. I'm still a Fender guy to the core, but it's interesting to read what others are thinking and doing over there.

Still no word on my AC bass! I prepaired myself for a long wait back in March or so, ...told myself "by Christmas..." and chuckled to myself. Well Christmas is nearly here and this doesn't seem any closer to being over with. I think I'm going to set a date, like mid- January for this to happen, otherwise I will take my parts and sell them and get another AC (or maybe something else).

I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in Fender support/customer service. It is abundantly clear that they don't care at all about their average customer. Just another machine, why should I be surprised? I was treated this way (actually a bit worse) by Honda and vowed to never give them my business again. I hope it doesn't get this way with Fender.

If you do blow off the Mr. Fixit job from Fender, I'd go with another AC Jazz, or a Ric 4003. Both are good players.

A Ric huh? I haven't really considered one before. Never played one. I was leaning toward a Thunderbird. It's just next on my list. But I do wish I had the AC in the collection before I move on. I also want an early 50's Precision, either real or MIA reissue.

I had a Thunderbird not to long ago, and it was ok. I went with the Ric 4003 over the T-Bird, because I liked the feel of the neck, and the sounds. Personal preference though.
