Well I FINALLY got a price quote from Fender today for a new body… $600. :) I am happy with that price, though they say it will still be a while as they don't make these very often…??? I don't get that. I thought this was still a current run? They recently had to do one for someone else and finally got around to setting a price for the AC J bass body. I wonder if I'll have my bass back before Christmas?

The latest AC I just got is a 2015. So, they are still turning out new basses. If you're ok with the $600.00 price of the new body, I guess sit tight, and wait it out. I just hope the two Sherwood Green Metallic paint batches match for your head, and the new body.

Yea, I'm going to do just that. I'm not worried about the green paint matching for 2 reasons… first because I'm sure they have the formula down, ...if anybody would they would. Second, there is enough space between the painted areas that if it were slightly off it wouldn't be noticed.

Sounds like a plan then. I agree with the space between the head, and body for the paint match up also.

I think what Fender meant when they said don't make these that often, they make up a batch of them on the line, then make room in production for others to be produced. I don't believe they make up a couple of AC's at a time.

Yea, I'm sure you're right. I hoped they could just reach in to their stack of bodies and grab one for me, you know?

I was hoping that they would have been able to have accommodated your order a bit quicker. But I guess they really may have not extra painted bodies, the custom C necks, with matching heads, and the block inlays in the board in stock. It's a bit more complex than a typical Am. Std. Jazz. That's why it's a bit more pricier than an Am. Std. too.

Yea, perhaps they do paint headstock and body together to be sure of a color match. I'm not bothered about the price though. Just happy that they agreed to do it.

Yeah, I can see where at least Fender is going to get you a real replacement AC body, to go with the neck, and other parts you have.

I remember that one on ebay a few weeks back. I'm seeing more and more with a lower pricetag like that. I would go that route if I hadn't been approved and finally got the pricequote. Supposedly I'm in the Fender queue line now for the replacement. I wonder if they stamp it in any of the cavities that it's a "replacement"?

Hi, I just registered so I can post here. Hang in there with your effort to get it fixed - sounds like you're almost there now - it will be worth it. I hope you like the feel and tone of the new body even better than the original. I have damaged prized instruments before, too, and didn't have the option of getting things back to like new like you have. Good luck.

Aw man, he just knocked it down to $1295! If I had cash ready I'd get this one anyway. It's spotless and for a noble cause.
