Probably so. A buddy of mine suggested the same thing. If Fender denies me, I may do just that (after writing them a strong letter).

Ok, got word from my Fender tech.

After pushing really hard for this, Fender reluctantly agreed to sell me a new body. He sounded a little down about it and says this has been exhausting. But I'm happy. They told him they would only replace it if it is absolutely beyond repair. He told them it could be glued but that it would definitely affect the sound/tone. They said it might take 120 days and be expensive, because they have to match the custom color, etc. I don't understand this, as these are relatively new and still in production. I told him forget it if it's gonna be $1000. He thinks it will be more like $700+. That's fine with me, as is the time frame. I can be very patient. They are supposed to get back to him with the details and final price in a week or so.

Nice!
At least now I can look forward to getting her back eventually. In the meantime, I'm playing my 50th Anniversary Jazz… 8)

That really was freak accident the way it fell, and landed. I'm over careful with my AC.

Yea, the Fender tech was puzzled about the damage. He saw no point of impact. He even suggested to me that possibly the wood was flawed, as a fall like this should not have caused this much damage. But if he pursued that line officially I am sure Fender would have shot us down completely. It was still my own stupidity, anyway.

Still waiting on the final word on the price for the replacement body.

As a sidenote, here's an image from last week that I found of Clayton from the new tour. I'm seeing U2 tomorrow night!

Thanks. It was a fantastic show!

He played the Jazz Bass quite a bit tonight, maybe almost half of the show.

Well sorta. A month ago they told him they'd get back to him in a week with a price. I figured once they made up their mind to do it the wait would be to actually get the body… maybe a few months… not just to tell me the friggin' price.

Yea, I just don't understand why this is such an issue? It's not like this is a mom-n-pop's business. Pulling teeth to get approval, pulling teeth to get a pricequote… sheesh. I hate to think how long the actual wait time will be once the body is paid for.
