Hi all!

I have an American Traditional Jazz Bass that I bought new ~15 years ago. I haven't much knowledge about Jazz Basses so bear with me. :)

I have learned that this is a low-cost-built-in-usa-but-with-mexican-parts model. The biggest give away is the one piece pickguard (i.e. no separate chrome control plate) and strat knobs. My bass is olympic white / rose wood fret board / white pickguard.

I recently replaced the electronics (pots + jack) and I had to get new knobs to fit the larger pots I got (Standard Jazz Bass knobs). I am now on the look out for a replacement pickguard set that fits this bass. I am planning to buy something like this:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_j_bass_ ... e_tort.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_control_plate_jbass.htm

Does anyone know if this set will fit my bass? Note: I am perfectly fine with drilling new screw holes to make it fit.

Here is an image of my current pickguard:

Welcome to the Fender Forums, Tobias!
Nope. Not a direct match up at all. It's going to require filling in some holes and drilling new ones. Any real reason for the switch other than looks?

Thanks a lot!

Nope, just for the looks. Since I had to replace the Strat-style knobs I thought I might as well change the pickguard to match the new black Jazz Bass knobs. :)

Besides for the screw holes, do you think that the pickguard's pick-up and fingerboard cut-outs will fit the American Traditional Jazz Bass?

They should be close, but close might not be good enough. You'll just have to try and see. I do know that Mexican and American Standard pickguards are not directly interchangable, and neither are the bridges. Best of Luck to you, Tobias.

How'd it go?

A few years back I replaced the black pickguard on my '12 Jazz Modern Player Series that has 2 humbucking pickups. I couldn't find a pickguard that would fit around the pickup so I just purchased a vintage tortoise reissue and brought out the ol' Dremel tool and it worked (and looks) great.

Still haven't got round to order the parts yet, but I promise I'll post here when I have some results to present. :)
