Strongly considering buying a used MIM Deluxe/Active Jazz BODY from an online classifieds listing.

My main goal for this bass is to be a low-end piece that doesn't make me cringe when played rough, it gets dusty, or generally anything "bad" happens to it.

My secondary goal is to have an inexpensive Jazz bass that I can put a set of DP123/ModelJ pickups into.

Can someone help me get more info about these basses without me having the serial number? Like what year they were first made, colors by year etc . . .

I want to confirm that they have a L/S pickup routing configuration, that is a must for the standard DP123 set.

Measure or ask the seller to measure the width of the pickup cavities. Without knowing the year it gets tough to say for sure if the stock Dimarzio set will fit. You do realize these are pretty hot split coil humbucking pickups, so you may not need to go active at all on the project. It is also possible to buy the Dimarzio pickups individually instead of in a set. You really need the width measurements. These pickups are really good ones for the money.
