Playing my Jazz Bass on a couple of my band's tunes, I just love the punch and / or growl I get.

This bass has reinvigorated my old love of playing bass, long before I started playing guitar in bands.

I got my first bass in 76, a crappy plywood 3/4 scale "Savoy." I had a terrible amp too. In 78, I bought a Ric 2001 that I still own and play. In addition to it and the JB, I have a Hofner HCT Violin Bass: sometimes I can't decide which one to play, but more and more I go to the JB because it's got a greater range of tones, and a wider spectrum of low thumps to high rings.

The Rick and the Hofner each have their own particular vibe but it's hard to beat a Jazz Bass for outright sonic versatility.
