First off, hi there, new guy here.

So I've got myself a swanky new set of EMGs for my 2010 US Standard Jazz bass, and up until now it's been a pretty simple job (the solderless system is a godsend). Perhaps foolishly, I listened to the advice of random people on the internet and thought that I'd be able to fit the battery in the existing cavity with the volume and tone controls. I can't. Or at least, I can't without leaving a few mil gap when screwing the control panel down. Apparently people have managed it, although I can't find any videos or pictures of how.

I'd really rather not have to get any extra routing, if anyone's done this and has any advice or pictures that would be ridiculously helpful, cheers.

Thanks for the help. I think my problem might actually be the solderless system- the controls are taller to fit the pins on so the battery doesn't fit snugly underneath, I might just shell out to get a battery box fitted. It might be a shame not to keep the body stock but I'm planning to keep it for decades so it's a worthwhile investment. Still, I put some strings on to see how the pickups sound and they sound massive. Should be good.

I've hidden batteries by routing before. I had to be real carefull not to make the route too large. I've had active pickups in several basses- After a couple years I took all of them out. It was a passing fad. Over all in my experience I didn't think they actually did much for me in my playing situation- whatever that was. I don't think I'll ever go back to active unless the bass has them installed from the factory. I don't want you to think any which way that I think you shouldn't use active pickups. Go for it if it does that certain thing for you. I can get the same results though as active pickups by turning up my amp or tweeking it. That's all I know.
