Book value on this bass is only in the $6500-$8000 according to Vintage Guitar's 2014 Price Guide, so at $16K it is significantly over priced. Early Jazz basses are kind of hot right now, but not that hot.

Just noticed here that the wear mark pattern on the pickguard next to the E string seems too uniform to be legitimate wear. Could have been intentionally worn but I'm not sure. This is not worth today what they are asking, but in 5 or 10 more years it might be. Still it won't ever be worth what a '63 is worth. Early CBS era stuff always scares me. If it was a '63 at that price it might be reasonable.

In countries like Australia (& the UK) prices are something like 25%/30% higher than in the USA, & 14,500 Aussie dollars equals around £8000 in my money. Now, that buys a very nice original 65 L series custom colour Jazz Bass here, so for a 'burst it's way too much, .... even in the UK.

The mark on the pick guard is the right size & length, & at the right place relative to the neck, to be a thumb location for a finger player, but these marks are usually on the body with the edge of the guard used as the thumb "anchor point". It's difficult to see how such a mark could be on the guard itself as it's too close to the E string, & would a guard wear through like that anyway?

That bass has been refinished. There never was a sunburst Jazz bass made in 1965 with that wide a black band on its sunburst finish. Mid 60's bursts have very distinctive color and width to each band. That bass violates all of the norms for a 65 sunburst.

The neck has also been refinished since the decal is installed crooked and the contour body decal is also crooked. The neck finish is too new looking and too thick to be an original.

The pictures were taken with a very bright flash which distorts the colors and makes it hard to see fine details.

There is no way that I would consider buying that bass for anywhere near the price quoted. I realize that prices are higher in other countries than the USA, but beware of this bass. It is being blatantly mis-represented!
