Starting to look for a used Am Std. What electronic issues would a '97 model have, if any?

Fender really went all out with the details, on these 1995-99 American Standards. Hang onto it if you get one.

I especially liked the kind of maple wood they were using for the necks at the time. Pretty stuff.

Electronic issues for Jazz Basses are usually related to poor solder connections when owners change out parts for inferior replacement parts such as potentiometers and pickups.

The best advice for a Fender bass owner is to leave you bass alone.

Replacement pickups are rarely better than stock pickups in my opinion.
