Hello!
I'm thinking to buy the Fender Starcaster J Bass, and I like to know what do you think about that, the sound, etc...

Wow! I remember my first bass, a jazz as well, and I remember the excitement of getting it. Of course, You Tube was not available in the 60's, so we had to play in a garage for the neighbors, who I bet were really impressed. Our drummer, at the beginning, had no drums, no iPhone app either. Nothing for the keyboard either. One by one we filled in with real instruments. Great times, never to be forgotten.

Okay, back on subject.

The Starcasters are great for what they are. Like he says in the video, a beginners bass. Bottom of the line. MIC (made in China) gives you the opportunity to buy a bass cheap, and start to learn your craft. However, once you know the basics, you will give it away and upgrade to a MIM (Mexico) or MIA (USA) bass.

Then you will grow old and start collecting all of them...or is that just me?

If the Starcaster fits your wallet, go for it. Beats nothing. But if you can add another hundred, look at a used MIM jazz bass. It is a significant upgrade. IMO, you will end up with an MIA down the road, but now you are talking $700, used.

Good luck with your first bass!
