I second the Markbass comment. Big low end in a little package. Also check out an Orange amp, they are really killer.

Im thinking that you should get a Ampeg ba-115.
There good for med gigs and they can be quite loud and quite.
There about $400 but you can't go wrong with ampeg. :D

In regard to Sansamp, they have so many different units. I have the Bass Driver DI. It puts so much out that virtually any amp sounds awesome.

The RPM is the same one Geddy Lee uses. I'm not a rabid fan of him, I do admire his technique and creativity.A lot of players look down on gadgets and gizmos, what I've found with the Sansamp is consistency. I can always recreate the sounds I want, be it in the gameroom, small or large room. Check out their website, lots and lots of players use their stuff.

I got a rumble 60, it is pretty good sounding. Not much tone shaping though. I have played out of SVT's and SWR's and ashdowns. The SVT 810 and the svt-AV sound the best to me. For something on the smaller price range try This amp. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ampeg-SVT-Bass-Amp-Half-Stack?sku=481310

Well, Behringer can go loud and are insanely cheap for their wattage. but aren't all they're cracked up to be. That's a suggestion if you'd be low on money.

The Bass Amp I use is the Bassman 150. It's loud, and has a rich warm tone which I loved for my Jazz Band. So that's a possibility. Affordable too.

Fenders are THE masters in Jazz/Blues in my opinion

I've been using an Ashdown ABM EVO III for a year or two. If I want to make more noise - bigger gig - I also use an Ashdown 1x15 cabinet. It's really solid stuff with a great sound.

It works for me but there are some great amps out there and it's so much a personal choice.

I love Ashdown amps...just like any higher end amps, they give a good thump sound.

it's a good amp, but for the money, there are better ones out there. That's my personal opinion, and everyone have 'em :)

I have the 100W Crate combo for a practice amp (the one with the 15" JBL). It's okay.

I also use the Hartke 3500 head with the 15" XL Series and 2X10" XL Series cabinets. They are reasonably priced, and do pretty well.

Hey, another Hartke guy!! I have a Hartke Transient Attack (discon't model) 5000 with a KMD 2815 ( 2x8 1x15) cab. I got the head brand new in '95, the cab new in '94.

I would reccomend Gallien Kreuger. I have been using them in everything from small clubs to arenas to large outdoor venues for many years and have never had a problem. They are reliable and sound great. They are also very reasonably priced. I used to have a deal with Ampeg but gave it up because I like the sound from the GK setup much better. My practice amp is an older Fender Bassman combo which is also great.

I had a Sunn Concert Bass with the 2 15 inch speakers that were mounted facing the rear before these. I still miss that set up.

I got the Hartke stuff because I am older now, and don't want to lift heavy equipment. The 2x10 cabinet is something like 35 pounds to carry only.

I hear ya, my cab is a KMD cab, that thing weighs 85lbs, I know what u mean about the heavy cab. I really like the head. My model is discontinued now - Transient Attack 5000.
