I went on Guitar Dater Project and entered this serial number in: MZ0169119

Said it was made in Ensenada, Mexico in 2000-2001.

Are the pickup cavities the same size or is the bridge cavity wider than the neck, as it is nowadays? I really want to install CS60s in my bass but it'd be a pity if they didn't fit inside the control cavities.

Some issues with my MIM Fender jazz bass:

1. Installed a Badass II Bridge and set the action to my liking. But, the E-string saddle is already lowered to the bridge and when it does, the strings hit the magnetic poles on the neck pickup which causes some unwanted noise. I tried raising it but the $@!&# from the E to the G string is insanely steep. Do I have a gooched Badass or do all of these have this issue? I bought the bridge from someone who took apart a CIJ Geddy :O and was selling the parts separately...except the neck *scowl.

2. All jazz basses I've tested this little experiment on had the same result; whenever I pushed on the pickups, it would bounce and return to normal position because of the foam piece underneath it. Well for my jazz bass, the pickups are as stiff as a rock; they won't move and the screws, when I tried to unscrew them, became stripped and useless. I'm planning on replacing them with CS60s but I can't DO that if I can't remove these old ones first. I can't even unscrew them to check if the foam is dried up or not...

Any suggestions?

Any bass can develop issues that need to be fixed by a competent repair person.
Your pickups can be fixed by removing the existing pickup screws with a vice grip and replacing the foam under the pickups. When you can adjust the pickups, you or a repairman can adjust all of the components on the bass so that it plays great.

The Mexecan made Jazz Bass pickups are the same size. The US or CS pickups are made with the bridge pickup being a little wider. The Cavities on the bass shouold hold either set of pickups with no problems except the neck pickup from the CS set of pick ups will not fit in the original pick guard. The hole is too big and a new pickguard will have to be made for the bass to look right.

Well, I say otherwise. MY pickguard is fine; it fit Dimarzios before without any problems.

MY biggest issue is should I get two neck pickups since my cavities are the same size?

You may need two bridge pickups, since I think the Mexican pickups are the wider design pickup.

Try out the size if possible before you buy.
Good luck with your bass.
