Well trimmed the fat from my bass collection. So now I am down to what I think are four well rounded basses, each with its own positive characteristics. This really is a well balanced collection with each one I see getting a fair share of playing.....so that leaves me with no bass just collecting dust. So I present to you for your view pleasure....my jazz family!

From left to right: '88 NYC Sadowsky Standard 4, Fender American Deluxe Jazz FMT, Fender Victor Bailey Jazz Fretless and Fender '62 RI Jazz Fretless (CIJ model).

I like your collection. How does each one play differently for you?

The Sadowsky is the ultimate funk machine. Also it only weighs a hair over 7 lbs! It is also 20 years old, so it has a great broken in feel. A side note, that Sadowsky I own was originally built for Steve. W Rabe, the founder of SWR. It was used in a number of ads for SWR!

Ok, the America Deluxe Jazz FMT is a great finger style bass. I love the mids on that bass. It is also the best looking of all my basses.

The Victor Bailey Fretless has the fastest neck of them all. It has a great tone with lots of punch.

Lastly the 62 RI fretless is THE bass for that Jaco sound. I've been using that bass allot with my blues band.
