Hi all...at the end of this month I will be buying a Modern Player Jazz V and my questions are #1 Up to what gauge can it accept(without modification to the nut)?
#2 String recommendations? Its my first 5 but not my first Fender.
I play rock/modern rock and now some modern country/southern rock so I really want some low end chunk in a string.

Thanks in advance!

Fender is pretty pitiful about providing consistent information about it's instruments. On the Fender website sometimes they have information on the strings installed and sometimes they don't even admit there are strings on the instrument. I believe the gauges installed are .45, .65, .80, 1.00, and 1.25. I also believe they are Fender 7250M. You should have no problem using 1.05 and 1.30 on the E and B respectively.

Best wishes!

I meant to say .45, .65, .85, 1.05, and 1.25! The lighter E and A string could fit / work but may sound different. I'm planning to replace the 1.25 with a 1.30 when I change the strings.
