I think those are the ones.

I used a lot of those. They last a hell of a lot longer, and they don't use as much energy, or get as hot. They even got them now to where they are even dimmable, if you have that type of lighting.

My outdoor floods don't last as long as my older type did.

What was the difference between the two?

The older incandescents were just a straight filament light. I'm not sure what the newer ones a made of. Supposedly they aren't good for the environment because of the internal parts that can get into the ground in land fills. Where is the good trade off on those? Use less power to light them, or poison the ground. Not to mention the cost is higher.

I've heard that they were supposed to do away with incandescent bulbs altogether, but that was a few years ago, before Trump was in office, part of some sort of Obama environmental regulations (I think,) but a lot of that has been reversed, so who knows?

A few months ago, I heard on the news that, GE was getting out of the manufacture of light bulbs.

I wonder why that is? That's like one of their main products. Then again, they make all kinds of stuff.

I don't know either. GE is, or was one of the largest bulb manufacturers, along with Sylvania, etc.

Yeah, that's why I'm surprised that they'd stop making them.

There may be some problems with these new bulbs that may cause legalities, and litigations. I've heard of some design problems with them causing fires. The circuitry in them has a tendency to over heat.

The LED ones? I've never had an issue with them.

The ones with issues are Compact Fluorescent Bulbs. While they are more energy efficient there are very toxic chemicals like mercury in them so putting them in landfills is a no go.
