That sounds about right.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I've played through a pair of those first Hartke cabs in NYC, many moons ago. They actually said "GUILD/Hartke" on them, which I'm assuming that Guild had something to do with those first cabs. Maybe distributed them?

That could be possible, or at the time Hartke was part of Guild.

Maybe that's what that was, then. You know, there isn't any information on Hartke on Wikipedia for some strange reason. You'd think they'd have some sort of articles, since that brand has been around as long as it has, and has been widely used.

That's odd. Unless it was such a local based, and locally used in a particular area, it may not have had the exposure to a greater market place.

I don't know. It's quite strange. You would think that there would be some sort of mention. I've seen articles on lesser known stuff from back in the 60's, or whatever.

I know exactly what you're saying. There are some amps that I've seen, moved and played through and can't find zip about them, like they never existed.

I remember a few like that, even in my time. Although, back in the late 80's/early 90's, there wasn't a ton of bass gear like you have now.

It's ironic that '60's bass amps seem to be harder to locate than guitar amps of the same era. Like mentioedjust before this, I saw these amps.

It seems like in the 60's, they actually had multipurpose amps, instead of either guitar or bass, or at least until the late 60's. I guess the only difference was maybe the speaker cabs used on some of them.

Early on, it wasn't that unusual to have an amp with two complete channels, and a power plug outlet on the back of the head to supply power to another amp. If you were lucky, it may have had a ground polarity switch on it. Three prong plugs were very scarce on amps. At that time, the amps really weren't that powerful. Still powerful enough though to kick you on your $@! if the ground polarity was in the wrong position.

I've had and seen amps that have the outlet in the back of the amp. Come to think of it, I think the Ampegs I've had were like this, even the SVT-3 Pro I had in the 90's. I'm not sure if they still make them like that, probably not. I remember also getting AM radio signals on my first Ampeg, when I rehearsed in some garage storage units back in the day. It was some sort of Spanish station, which was pretty common in Florida, especially your neck of the woods, I'm sure. Around here, there are Portuguese ones, since I'm not too far from Fall River, or New Bedford, MA. Huge Portuguese settlements around there, and then some.

I don't remember having amps picking up radio frequencies. Even with the big, powerful AM station here, WQAM out of Miami. It was an AM Mega station at the time. I was on the air 24 hours a day also. At 11:00 PM, the music stopped and a talk show came on till 4, 5, or 6 AM, I forget.

I'm sure that's been long gone for years now, hasn't it?

WQAM is now a sports channel, still out of Miami. It was the biggest top 40, AM station in south Florida. They welcomed The Beatles into Miami for their second Ed Sullivan show. That was a MEGA EVENT.
