That sounds pretty good. How did it work around the frets?

I took both my basses out for a rip yesterday. As I’m not in a band and haven’t been for some time, I keep getting the idea I have no real need for two so I periodically play them both to see which I like better should I decide to sell one. As always, it turned out I like them both for different reasons and can’t choose. Bad time to sell anyway. The used market here is excruciatingly soft.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It never hurts to have two basses. I don't even do studio work any more, and I have my favorite three basses.

It seems to work out pretty good with them.

I know what you mean with trying to sell used gear. I've had a few pieces that I've had trouble trying to get rid of. Now I'm in the process of trying to sell my Squier Precision Bass to raise the funds to get a short scale bass, since I've pretty much transitioned to that by playing my violin bass, and I'm used to that now, plus I also play some guitar, which has a similar feel. I just think that would be easier to deal with.

Short scales can become habit forming. Very good players. I go with my Mustang PJ about the same as you go with your Violin.

I'll be getting another short scale bass, as I mentioned in the other thread in the Lounge section. I'm selling the Precision this evening, and by the way, I also found out my old bass cabs sold, and perhaps the Schecter bass did, too. 8)

Wow! That's great!!! Ironic how the bulk of the gear you wanted to move are going pretty much at the same time. Fandamntastic! Image

Yeah, I guess I got lucky with that, since for a long time I couldn't move anything. I've already ordered a new bass from the sale of the Squier Precision. I'll be getting an Ibanez Talman TM30 bass in ivory finish. Image I should be getting it Tuesday or Wednesday, then I'll make a post with the pics of whatever I get, sans any possible issues, in which I would have to return it, which I hope won't happen (there's always a risk of that.) I would have gotten a Squier Jaguar short scale bass, which I have previously mentioned, but they didn't have any available until August, for some reason. So I guess I'm moving into a different brand (I pretty much already have, with the violin bass,) although I still have the Squier Jazz and Telecaster, plus the Rumble amp. I'll have to change my signature, since that bass is gone, now.

WOW! Congrats on the Ibanez. A PJ as well. I think the Ibanez come from the factory with D'Addario rounds. That really is a super damn great bass. No smokin' and jokin' about it.
Yep, now comes the hard part of catching up with signature. Image
No offense but, you shouldn't have problems with the Ibanez, some of your other basses have given you. The Ibanez really is a top notch, well made bass. I almost acquired a hollow body Ibanez almost a year ago, but they discontinued it. I'd go for an Ibanez over a lot of other brands.

Thanks. 8) No offense taken. You're right about those basses and yeah, Ibanez generally does make pretty decent stuff. My girlfriend just had her Ibanez CT series bass fixed up and set up, and that is her pride and joy there. She actually got that replacing a Rickenbacker that she bought that she had to return because it had a bad paint job on it, which would have drastically effected it's value, and what she paid for it. It had runs or something like that on the back of the neck, and she called them and they told her to send it back, so she did, and then she found that Ibanez. Come to find out, they only made that model for a year in 1992. I didn't see it listed in their catalogs with any other years but that one, so it might be rare, depending on how many they made.

When I was still in Florida, I had an Ibanez TR-50 bass, which was sort of a P-Bass copy with a maple fretboard, which I picked up new at Bringe Music down there for $200. It was a budget model, but it was a really nice bass. Solid, with great action. It had a yellowish finish, which oddly enough, wasn't even mentioned in their catalogs at all. In some ways, I wish I still had it, but it's like anything else that comes and goes over the years.

I've had some GAS for their hollow body basses, too. I just never could manage to be able to get one, and i did get a hell of a deal with the violin bass, which more or less took care of my hollow body bass needs, not to say if the opportunity to acquire an Ibanez model arose, I would certainly jump on it. From what I remember, I think they were one of the first companies to even start offering hollow body basses again, probably starting in the 90's sometime, from what I remember.

Don't forget I also have the Orange Terror Bass 1000 and Fender 4 x 10" cab to run it through. Speaking of that, it's actually been since March 3rd, when we played our last gig, since I've used that rig. We were supposed to have played a gig back at the end of last month, but then it's been delayed twice already until sometime in August I think because of some BS with the club owner and scheduling conflicts with other bands. I think we're going to do another gig before that, elsewhere, though. Either way, I'm still going to be busy.

Of course, with the new bass, will be the debate on the strings. Do I put flats on it, etc. At least with this bass, it looks like actual short string scale strings will fit on it, since it doesn't have some archtop bridge, or string through body setup, and I don't have to hunt down medium scale strings for it.

Yeah, there's always something like that going on. :P I should get the bass either Tuesday, or Wednesday, I think. I doubt it will show tomorrow, but you never know with that company, they're really fast on shipping. Their warehouse is somewhere in New Jersey, I think, or one of them is.
