This is Killer, he's a 2010 MIM Jazz that I found in a little music store. What's interesting is, he had a bone nut, precision type knobs and the pickups definitely aren't Standard issue, they have awesome output and growl. Someone did some good things. I added the pickguard, Fender Jazz knobs and covers. And of course, The Red Mock Crocodile Levy's strap. This is my only bass that truly honks. The others have different pickups so their sound is good, it's not true Fender.

At least I kept this one in the Fender Family. But it does play great though.

Nice looking bass Ox !! :) awesome score too!!,.... as for myself of the 9 basses I own my Marcus Miller Jazz, Jaco Jazz & select Jazz get the most use,..... then I'll feel guilty & pull out my Geddy, Reggie Hamilton or American Deluxe Jazz 5 basses,... :(

Thanks James, what was at the root of this topic was wifey insisting that I put them in their cases. O.K. they took up a LOT of floor space, but it was always great to walk in the room, turn on the lights and have them all standing tall.

I really can't say I have one favorite, otherwise I'd only have one. I will say, the one that gets the most playing time is my '07 Precision.

That will be my next post in Precision Bass Guitars.

Congrats Ox. I thought that was one you had for a bit of time.

I had my basses displayed loud & proud for the longest time,.... but since last fall I decided to keep them in their cases,.. they were getting dusty,...even though I pretty much use them all equally I was creating a cleaning job for myself & I had a close call with my Steve Harris P-bass a couple of years ago with my basses all displayed it was late fall & I had a 27" high metal space heater in my music room,... anyway I lost my balance while going to pick up one of my basses & backed into the space heater & knocked it towards my Marcus Miller & Steve Harris Bass, I managed to grab the heater as it fell & the only damage incured was a small dent in the chrome pick guard of the Steve Harris bass & a small dent on the corner of the D string bridge saddle..... needless to say it could of been worst so at some point I have to buy a replacement chrome pick guard,.. I got the product number from customer service & now my basses all stay in their cases with the exception of my Ibanez acoustic Bass .. :)

Several of my Fender basses have bridge covers as well - but anyone who has this option on their basses will quickly see that if the basses are left in stands for any length of time, the open slot on the covers allows dust to build up inside and a regular clean up is required. However, the covers do protect the bridge from accidental stage impacts. Grounding the covers to dissipate static is a must - especially in humidity dry venues.

Played the J-Bass today as well as the Schecter Diamond Series Stiletto Elite 5. Taking delivery on a Schecter Stiletto Session 4 on Saturday (April 12) and I just sold a modified Ibanez BTB to make room for it. No bridge covers on the Schecters because I have yet to find generic covers to fit the massive Schecter bridges.

My favorite jazz basses are my FCS60RI and my 50th Anny. Two completely different sounds. The 50th Anny has more tone range, the 60RI has growl that won't quit.

Here comes MY wierdness. I have this thing about my guitars sitting out on stands. I don't like it. I keep them in the cases. The strings will last longer that way in my damp basement. I can't knock them over if they are in the cases and if I should happen to they won't get hurt. I also think the case helps shield them from sudden temperature and humidity changes and spiders. Just get a spider down inside the bridge cover and see what happens when that puppy crawls out and runs across your hand. You won't like it. You may scream like a leetle gurl meng.
