I have the Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bazz V, and I noticed that even in active mode, there is not a lot of volume of that bass. I have other basses with active pickups/preamp that blow my jazz away regarding volume. I love the bass, but I have to either turn my amp up or use my aguilar tonehammer preamp just for a decent volume. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

Probably you got a defective bass.

Quality control slipped a lot since 2008.

Reason: cuts of production costs and money saving.

Have you tried new batteries? Bad batteries happen.

+1

I bought a 4-pack of "Panasonic" 9V batteries that were only about half charged right out of the package when compared to a new Energizer or Duracell.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I change by batteries regularly. I may have to look into the panasonic batteries. I also realize that everywhere I play, I don't have this problem.

I have a 2011 American Deluxe Jazz V & I have to say it's a very well made Quality Bass.
I'd check the batteries first before saying it's a quality control issue.
If the problem persists after changing the batteries then check the battery wires & connection.
