Hey there experts. I bought a Fender P Bass today. Well... Maybe. Headstock looks legit but not sure about the body. Head states Fender Standard Series P Bass Special and lists 4 or 5 patent numbers. Back has SN IC99122423. Has p/j pickups with three knobs. How can I tell if this has a squire body? Thank you for your help!!!

IC99.... or IC09 ????

IC09 + 6 digits
ICF09 + 6 digits 2009-2010
Made in Indonesia.

You want to be sure you are a Squire body ? You wish to have the cheapest ( sorry...) body ? Or you want to be sure it is Fender Squier guitar?

Picture may help

Thanks for the response. The serial number does start with IC99. Sorry for how I worded my post. Of course I am hoping it is an all Fender bass. I am just worried that it has a Squire body as I cannot find a picture of a similar Fender body. All the squire ones I see however look similar to mine. I will post some pictures today. Thanks!!

Send an email to Fender consumer relations with your serial number and a link to this thread. Ask for 'all information'. Sit back and wait.

If made in Indonesia, the body may very well be made of Agathis.

Does that look like a Boner bass to anyone else?

Really Indonesia? It probably is a Squier with a Fender decal. The serial is Indonesian Squier not Fender. So far as I know no Fender logoed P-Bass Specials have come from Indonesia. Maybe they made some for sale in Asia...maybe. Don't know but this is probably the old decal switcharoo.

The small print and 'P-Bass Special' instead of Precision Bass Special smacks a bit of the Squier Affinity series.

Honestly, I can't figure the decal...doesn't look right for this model., and it is the Standard Series but again the decal looks a bit misplaced. The bass does track back to a Squier P Bass Special....032-1500-532 shipped 2/24/2000.
Cheers,
