What are the chances of Fender bringing the Victor Bailey back? This bass has to be one of the most popular basses on the used market. I regret not buying a new one. One of my friends bought his bass to church and man did this thing growl. I was suprised on the versatility of the bass. The Victor Bailey is clearly one of the best basses Fender has made in the more recent years. I'm praying that Fender would bring the Victor Bailey 5 (or very similar bass) back for at least a limited run.

Victor's endorsement deal with Fender has ended a few years ago, subsequently those models were taken out from production.

Yeah I knew that Victor's endorsement deal had ended. I'm hoping they bring this bass back like they do with so many of the other guitars. :D

The VB basses were based on the pre-2010 American Deluxes. Fender doesn't make those active 22-fretters anymore.

Fender has updated/changed a particular model of bass like the Marcus Miller (which I have :D). More than likely, I will have to keep my eye out on the used market and jump on one when it becomes available.

The Victor Bailey line of basses (4 string , 5 string, Fretless & acoustic) were nice basses.

The VB bases did not disappear completely after the deal was over. They moved production to Japan. The VB was in the FenderJapan catalogue (but not available here) as recently as 2011 and possibly 2012. I tried to buy one of the Japanese models from an off-shore dealer but there were none available at the time, which I'm pretty sure was in 2012.

Actually it was the other way round. After they collaborated in designing the Victor Bailey they started producing a line of similarly equipped FMT and QMT AD Jazzes based on the VB. The VB was available for at least one, possibly two model years before the AD Jazzes came out with the same electronics as the VB. I am away from home for the Christmas holiday at the moment so I don't have access to my materials but I can show evidence when I get home if needed.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Those FMT/QMT Deluxes had similarities with the VB except for the bound tuxedo neck which became the basis for the post-2010 21-fret Deluxe Jazz necks.

Not quite the same, but looks like Fender's got this new variation of the Deluxe Active Jazz coming out this year:
