I've done a topic for the Precision, now it's the turn for the Jazz Bass.

Dedicated for the Boner Jazz Bass and the Jazz Bass Plus.

I have a '92 Jazz Bass Plus. I posted some things of common interest in About my Fender Jazz Bass Plus on the section titled All other Fender Bass Guitars. Want to post some pics, but I'm new to this. :D

Hi there, what can you tell about your experience with the so-called Longhorn aka boner Fender Jazz?

I'm interested in hearing from you how do you find the string spacing, and tone control...

Cheers,
M.V.

I forgot but what's the story on the boner-- ? They did that extra large horn for balance of weight or sound or what? The first time I saw one of those some guy in a club band was playing one. It sounded really good thru his GK amp.

Larger bodies and longer cutaways were primarily intended for improving the balance and accommodate the longer 22-fret neck. Later Blanda came up with a revised design for the Plus series by downsizing the body and deepening the lower horn for better access to the higher registers. The pickguard and chrome control plate returned to the face of the instrument in July 1995 while the 22-fret neck was upgraded with graphite support rods, rolled edges, detailed nut/fret work and abalone dots (as of 1998).

The downsized body styling remained unchanged until 2010.
