I'm not crazy about the Fender vintage bridge, but they do work.

I would get a Fender replacement bridge and avoid all the other aftermarket stuff. Usually even though the stock Fender bridge may not look good it usually is the best for the job. It's about sound really...right? AND some people put those darn Badass bridges on their Fender bass. Fender even puts them on Fender basses. Some swear by the Badass bridge and it may even add a little sustain. But after a long time my experience has been that they don't do anything for me and I put the stock bridge back on and the bass sounds better to me. I think bridges are all mental anyway. If a bass sounds thin and dull and thuddy - it very well may not be the bridge doing the bad thing. Bridges CAN be tone suckers though so there are reasons to replace one.

Berry Oakley, Noel Redding, Jaco Pastorius, and scores of other Jazz Bass players didn't seem to have an issue with the stock Fender bridge......
