I like the added resonance chamber idea! Good one Bro Dave!LOL

Look - None of us like the hole or the exposed wiring channels, (Until you want to change a pickup. Then that channel makes the work much easier), but think about the alternative.
More expensive basses!

The Custom shop basses are what? 5 to 10 times the price of a USA standard?
Do you want to pay that much for a bass you take out to earn $50 bucks a night?

The other thing to consider is that CNC machines have made making guitars a much safer industry.

Pin Routers were known for taking off fingers. Just have a look at those old Fender production films with George Fullerton's dad running that band saw.
