nks, James - I think the factory fretless version probably is a bit more rare than the fretted version... I wasn't going to buy another bass, since I finally got down to an even dozen - then this one popped up, and tempted me into making it lucky #13, hahaha!!! Besides, it filled several empty niches in my modest Fender collection: MIJ, P/J, and fretless - how could I refuse???

There's no way to say No to a find like this,.....as I said She's a keeper,.......I have 7 Fender Basses in my Arsenal & 1 Ibanez Acoustic Bass,..... & soon to add another Fender as recently I've been itching for an 2013 American Standard Jazz bass,...Olympic White with Tort pick guard & maple fretboard,...... :)

Yeah, I know - but besides being an unabashed Fender fan, I'm also the same way about EBMMs... My Fenders *were* ahead 5-4, then I flipped a MIM active Deluxe P Bass Special to help fund a Schecter Hellraiser-5, so things were tied - until this Jazz Bass Special, that is...

Here's a recent family portrait, minus the Hellraiser-5 and JBS fretless:

Nice, I'm looking at getting a fretless bass--this one would have been tempting, although right now I ned the lines where the frets would be.

Enjoy!

It has the dots on top of the neck - I actually wanted an unlined fretless, 'cause I dig the look...

They do look great, but I need the lines at this time--but I'd learn if I had to.

Thanks again, bud - and yeah, I'm an unabashed gear $@!&#... My gear is pretty much the result of averaging 70+ gigs for atleast the last 10+ years... My current band is on pace to play over 100 gigs per year, actually...

SWEET! Congrats on a great find. I got lucky on a fretless recently, while she has lines, I find myself using the dots as reference.

Congrats on your Fretless. When I do a quick peek, the dots work well for me too.

That's a really nice fretless. An unlined neck is my favorite too, but I've only seen one around here in all these years. Nice family pick too!

Thanks - and yeah, the dots are allowing me to play it just like my fretted basses - no problems here...

Thanks for the kind words - I had been looking for an unlined in decent condition for a good price, and you're right - they don't pop up all that often...

I'm dropping it off at the luthier's place tomorrow for a fingerboard planning - it oughta play great after that...

I *think* the body wood on those was basswood, but don't know that with absolute certainty... I'll answer to the best of my ability - what else would you like to know???

Body and neck wood. I presume it's maple neck, but since it's painted....
