I always thought that he bought a dano, broke the strings in recording so he had to buy another to get the same strings. He did this 2 more time any eventually settled with a sunburst jazz with labella strings. At least that's how I heard it

That's what I read, or a close variation thereof.

You're right. I just wonder what happened to all those Danelectro basses.

I don't know what happened to his collection. I'd love to know what happened to that Jazz Bass. You have no idea how thrilled I am that "My Generation" used a Jazz Bass. Rock and roll!

Everything he owned was sold at auction to pay delinquent taxes.

The sunburst Jazz Bass John used to record My Generation dates from 1965.

I love to watch Entwistle play--the physicality of his style is unique. He was a master player. I've always felt that Townshend and Daltrey should have stopped the tour when The Ox died, you know, give it a little time, but they went on with that tour.

I agree 100% with that. IMHO the reason they never stopped was because John and Roger needed the money and Pete was looking out for them. On the dvd, An Ox's Tale, Pete Townsend talks a lot about carrying on. He felt and obligation to others.

Just a footnote, Roger Daltry refused to appear on the dvd, he fought with John a lot because John played too loud and Daltry is a whining little B@$%H! You can see that Pete loved him.

Here's something for your viewing pleasure!

Interesting stuff. I can see where Pete was coming from. Thanks for the clip--that is one of the best ever interviews I've seen with Pete.
