The neck on the Jaco fretless is thin..... I find playing my Jaco or rather fretless very addictive .... & I'm glad I put nickel plated rounds on it .....though I think when I do my next string change (which won't be for a while) I think I'm going to try a set of DR clear coated Dragon Skins ....I've always been cuious about them on a fretless :)

I'm going back to an Am. Std. Fretless in the near future. 3-Color Sunburst is in order. The "White Lightning" PBass is not going anywhere, but in and out of the case. I like my PBass, and there's nothing like a Fretless Jazz!

Oxfan,

How do I know if I am drooling over Bebe, or just my normal drooling? I would love to stop by and test drive her, but the closest I am getting to you this winter is Ohio. Bring her to Florida with you!

Very nice looking bass. You did well.

Steve

Learn to play flat fingered in the lower positions. This is where your finger acts as a slide, straight across the board. This also enables you to fret notes with other parts of the finger, which can improve intonation and accuracy.

Watch Ray Brown's Upright bass instructional vid.

If you're asking if blacktops are made in pieces, yes.

Hello to you too.

I'm changing the bridge on my Fretless. I'm going with an ESP bass bridge with a little narrower string spacing and a larger sounding block. I have noticed very small lines from the Rotosound rounds in the rosewood board- I'm watching them closely and I'm using the Data (not the one on Star Trek next gen) to determine how much the strings eat the fretboard. Then we can BUNK or DEBUNK all the myths, hear-say, inuendo, wind drag on the rear wing, tire wear, cornbread consumption, and he said she said. :D

Cornbread consumption is a serious topic of discussion here in Dixieland.

I have endeavored to perservere ( Chief Dan George) and have installed the new better bridge on my fretless. I have intonated the bass and the playability is 10 times better AND with the proper intonation it is much easier to play in tune for me. It was a rush to think ===" hey I can get this down if I keep at it,".. It is much more fun for me now that the bass is in proper playing order and can be played easily. I'm be diggin' it. 8) I was starting to get worried untill I got the set up right. It's a little different than setting up a fretted. For one thing I have the neck with less relief in it than any fretted bass I have.
