Well,…… you know James,………. I do too. I like this more than the molded cases. I'm thinking about getting another case for my Precision too. Banish the SKB molded case to the spare room closet.

The Goldish brown tweed G & G case with Brown leatherette on the ends & burgundy wine plush interior that came with my Select Jazz bass was very impressive. :)

as was the Brown Vinyl case with Orange plush interior that came with my Jaco Bass.

Those sound very nice. Hmmmm, I may rethink my black case color. Right now everything is a blur. I have the earbuds in listening to Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb, from the Delicate Sound Of Thunder album. I may have to listen to it again. I get lost in the song. I love it!

Thanks SV. I guess the original Tort PG isn't that bad. I was seeing the Tort with the light haze on it from the PG protective film still on. This PG has a bit less gold flake in it, the way I like it also.

The Rics are different. I played a 4003FL once. Really a nice feel, but trying to get one is a total pain. Plus, Ric has stopped production of the 4003FL. I'll go with Fenders over Rics, and I'm not to crazy about the Gibsons anymore.

I could never find a tone, for full time use, that I liked with Gibson basses.

He traded it in already. I don't want to spoil his surprise, so I won't say what he got.

Hi James, I like the Am. Std. Series anyway. But the Fretless Jazz is a smooth playing bass. It feels so right. the CS60's are my favorite pups on either, "Electric Lady" (my Precision), or "Windy". The D'Addario ETB92 Nylons, I think do very well with the CS60's also. Good deep mellow tone, sustain, and if you want a stand up bass sound, it's right on. Myself, I wouldn't change out the CS60's for other pups on either the Precision, or the Jazz.

I like the Black Pearl too, but it stood out a bit much for me. I like the Tort how it blends with brownish tones of the Jazz, body color, and Rosewood board.

Gibson basses for me were uncomfortable to play. The tone wasn't so bad, at least for what amps I ran them through. Acoustic 360's with a 18" at concert level volume was good. Gibson Q.C. hasn't thrilled me lately. I had my choices between Fender, and Rics, the Fenders won out.
