A LOT !!!! Sherwood green sounds like a not standard color for 1960. Are you sure it's not a color that has faded or aged and looks like sherwood green? Affprod should know this. Brother Dave too. They'll be along in a while. :D

Ok. It is Sherwood Green. Everything original. I also have the financing contract where payments were made on it to a bank and it shows the serial # and color. I took over payments on it in 1966 from a band mate who joined the Army.

Photos! Needs to be totally original to have any collector value. Your best bet is to take it to Gruhns in Nashville for a professional appraisal. http://www.gruhn.com/

I think Sherwood Green would be considered a rare color as I have not seen one, ever, but I do not doubt it, as it was a strat color that year.

Everything relies on condition and originality. I agree the best thing to do would be to get it to George Gruhn for an in hand appraisal, but if this baby is all original, in excellent condition, with original case, you could be looking at as high as $40K. In fact, my pricing guides have it between $31K and $43K. Vintage Guitar Magazine lists the 60 jazz as the most valuable bass in the collector market, up to $38K.

Everything that is missing or changed, starts pulling value away. Refinish takes half. Pickups that have been rewound, pots replaced or re-soldered. All the way down to a replaced pick guard screw, it all deducts from value.

I would absolutely like to see pictures of this one so I can study it further. You have my undivided attention! What a cool piece to be discussing.

I sold it in 1977 for $275, and the friend I sold it to still has it. No alterations as far as I know. Original paint and headstock is Sherwood Green also. I think I better
get in contact with him and try to make a deal.

Yes, a 60 Jazz, original stack knobs, is quite a prize. Too bad you sold it! And worse, not to me!

If you can make a deal to get it back - do it!
Be prepared to get sued if he finds out what it is worth if you buy it for way below market.

I sold a black 1971 Jazz bass with matching head stock in 1978 for $200.
It was fretless (made fretless with the block inlay still intact).

I have no idea where that bass is now.
