John Entwistle on The Who's "The Real Me". I have always enjoyed playing it.

I think Carol Kaye was one of the bass players for the Monkee's in the studio. Brother Dave probably knows. The bass work on Pleasant Valley Sunday is brilliant execution. It could be a clinic on pocket playing while pushing things a bit. A good example of electric bass playing. It also showcases the Fender bass tone very well.

I played for a few hours with Tork in Songbird Studios in Manhattan. He played guitar and piano. A solid musician but not a virtuoso. I was with a band that was auditioning to play back up for a Japan tour he had lined up. He would be the only Monkee in the band. Having watched the series it was a special moment to be playing songs first heard on the show with one of the band members. Definitely a good memory.

We were a power trio with a guitar virtuoso. I played my butt off also. We were too much band for him. We did use all the time because the songs did sound amazing in a non-Monkee fashion.
