Hey, I have played Bass a little so I don't know tons but I can give you my opinion. My brother in law just got a new Bass. I was helping him pick one out and we were looking at a Jazz Bass. We tried out the MIM and American models which are cool. Then we found the Highway One Jazz Bass which I think is sweet. It is American made so it costs more than the MIM, but it is still a lot less than the normal American Standard Jazz Bass. The best part is that it already has some upgrades that I heard most people do to the Jazz Bass any ways. It has a BadAss II Bridge which helps its tome and sustain out a lot. It also has a reinforced neck and better pickups. I love the feel of it and the look is awesome. I recommend trying it out if you can. Good Luck!!!

I concur with "jon_edie82..."

Satin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Body Finish,
BADASS II Bridge with Grooved Saddles, &
Posiflex Graphite Neck Support Rods.

Highway One is a big band for the $ :!:

If you buy an MIM and add the BadAssII your looking @ $550 - $600 w/install. HWY1 cost about $850 nowadays, but you can find it for cheaper @ the music store. Not sure what prices are like in Holland, but if you're going to get in in Euro then it will be a lot cheaper for you since the US$ is less than the Euro at this time.

it doesnt really matter just get one that feels comfortable to you. Every bass is different. For me, I have a Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V. Its what works for me. I looked at many others, but none felt as natural to me as this one. So its all up to what u feel comfortable with. People can suggest ideas but that doesnt mean it will be comfortable for u.

If you can find a used one you like you can always upgrade to a new one later or modify the used one.
